We vacuum slowly and thoroughly, in more than one direction, at least twice, before a single drop of water touches the carpet. Skip this and you are just turning dry dirt into mud.

We pre-treat stains and traffic lanes
We apply the right pre-treatment to spots, pet stains, and worn traffic lanes, then give it time to dwell. Letting the solution break down the soil — instead of scrubbing harder — is what protects your carpet fibers and actually lifts the stain.

We agitate and groom the fibers
We work the pre-treatment down into the pile so it reaches the embedded soil at the base of the fibers, not just the surface. Even the best cleaning solution cannot clean what it never reaches.

Why we vacuum twice before we ever add water
Most of the dirt in your carpet is dry — abrasive grit that grinds at the fibers and that hot water simply can't remove. A thorough dry vacuum, done more than once, lifts it out first. It's the single most important best practice in carpet cleaning, and it's the first thing a rushed job cuts. We never do.

Skipping the vacuum step
Extraction cannot remove the dry grit a proper vacuum should have lifted first. Skip it and you just push soil deeper into the carpet.
Over-wetting the carpet

Leaving detergent residue
